Can I put small packages in my mailbox?
By law, only you and the U.S. Postal Service are allowed to put things in your mailbox. But what if companies like FedEx and UPS could do that too? These companies currently leave small packages at your door instead of your mailbox because USPS has a mailbox monopoly – and has done so for decades.
If the packages fit, you may drop them off at blue collection mailboxes and Post Office mail drop slots. Some Post Offices may also have a designated spot on the counter for prepaid packages. If you have a large number of packages, you may be asked to bring them to a rear loading dock.

How do you mail off a package?

Don't panic. If the Fedex box is in the same location, the mail carrier will drop it in the Fedex box for you, assuming they spot it. If not then when it gets to the post office someone will set it aside and see to it that the package gets to a fedex courier within a few days.
