However, it is generally accepted that AutoCAD is a fairly CPU-intensive program. This means that the program relies heavily on the processing power of your computer's central processing unit (CPU) to run properly. GPUs are designed primarily for rendering graphics and handling complex 3D animations.
AutoCAD is supported by Microsoft Windows 11 (64-bit) as well as Windows 10. The company suggests visiting the Product Support Lifecycle page to stay up to date on new updates and depreciations. Though a 2.5 to a 2.9 GHz processor will work with AutoCAD, anything that's 3 GHz or higher is recommended.
AutoCAD however is extremely graphics intensive. Especially if you're doing anything in 3d space. It does have an option to turn on software graphics acceleration - i.e. calculating the displayed graphics using the CPU only.
Yes, AutoCAD will work on an i3 processor. It is a 32-bit application so it will only use up to 4GB of RAM, but it will run.
Autocad can run on 4gb ram but lag when you are using addition tools or running another software simultaneously so its better to use 8gb ram to run autocad. Autodesk AutoCAD 2021 running on 4GB RAM but lag when your are using addition tools or running another software simultaneously.
We recommend a minimum of 16 GB RAM because the quantity of RAM you require depends on the model you work with. According to Autodesk standards, since the software is quite lightweight, 8GB RAM is more than adequate for AutoCAD.
Which processor is better for AutoCAD?

---|---|---|
AMD Ryzen 3 3300X | 4 | 3.8 |
Intel i5 9600K | 6 | 3.7 |
AMD Ryzen 3 3100 | 4 | 3.6 |

It's better to use more RAM than written in the system requirements for good performance. For 2D drawings, 16 GB is a good value. For 3D drawings, 32 GB should suffice.
AutoCAD will perform faster if it gets more memory to perform its task and you can clean up memory by uninstalling unnecessary software thereby limiting the background processes.
Hardware issues
A graphics card is not certified or is malfunctioning. The graphics card driver is outdated. Graphics settings may not be compatible with a remote system. Dual graphics systems not using or utilizing higher end graphics card.
AutoCAD (including Mental Ray rendering) is actually fairly light on RAM requirements and Autodesk only recommends 8GB of RAM. However, given the relatively low cost of RAM – and the fact that most users tend to have more than just AutoCAD running on their system – we feel that 32GB is a great starting point.

Is i5 OK for AutoCAD?
auto cad works best on the cpu which has higher single core performance. i5 will run it fine but if your project demand increases then it could take time to complete your project.
While 3D design programs tend to need a lot of memory, we recommend having at least 16GB to 32 GB of RAM for a professional 3D design. The more RAM you have, the smoother your computer will run. Especially if you're running heavy programs or several apps at once, you'll need all the RAM you can get.
- Operating System: 64-bit Windows 11 or 10 version 1809 or above.
- Processor: 2.5 GHz (3+ GHz recommended), ARM processors not supported.
- Memory: 8 GB (16GB recommended)
- Disk space: 10.0 GB.
- Display: 1920 x 1080 resolution with True Color.
Memory or RAM (Random Access Memory)
A 16GB RAM is most of the time more than enough to meet workstation requirements for CAD systems. In the most extreme of the cases, a 32GB RAM is the higher end. You can go higher for something like 64GB if you plan to use other software simultaneously with your CAD package.

However, your machine still needs to be high-spec as CAD software is pretty demanding. This means you'll need to invest in a laptop that is powerful enough to keep up with your projects, however powerful they might be.
Ofcourse you can. All the PCs in our college had 4GB RAM and they ran AutoCAD 2012 very smoothly. So the optimum specs of a PC which could run AutoCAD smoothly were Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB RAM and Intel HD graphics(no dedicated graphics required).
For multi-threaded workflows in applications such as rendering in AutoCAD. We recommend AMD based workstation over Intel. AMD Ryzen offers more cores and threads, better value for money and still maintains high clock speeds that comfortably handle your 2D and 3D design workloads.

Is graphics needed for coding?
GPU Power: The Graphics Processor
As a programmer, you're going to need to ensure programs that utilize graphics can run properly.
Computer Graphics plays a key role in CAD/CAM to create Virtual world for digital prototyping. Graphics enables a designer to interactively synthesize various product shapes, visualize them in different settings and analyze their functional performance.
It also includes powerful tools for designing complex objects and creating detailed engineering drawings. AutoCAD is the industry standard for CAD software, and most professional engineers use it to create detailed designs and plans. It's also a popular choice for students who are studying engineering or architecture.
Used worldwide by both commercial and residential architects, CAD has replaced manual drafting. It helps users create designs in either 2D or 3D so they can visualize the construction. CAD enables the development, modification, and optimization of the architectural design process.
CAD software is widely used in the architecture industry. AutoCAD is a 2D and 3D CAD software trusted by millions for precision drafting, design, and documentation.
You'll want, at minimum, 8Gb of RAM; more if you can afford it. (You'll find “more if you can afford it” is a pattern.) Once you've passed these minimums, you might wonder where to spend your money on speeding up your computer even more.

Thanks to their thousands of cores, GPUs handle machine learning tasks better than CPUs. It takes a lot of computing power to train neural networks, so a decent graphics card is needed. As you progress, you'll need a graphics card, but you can still learn everything about machine learning to use a low-end laptop.
It takes time and practice to become proficient with AutoCAD. It can be hard to learn, but it really just depends on how motivated you are to learn it. AutoCAD is a powerful program that can do a lot, so if you're willing to put in the time to learn it, then it won't be hard at all.
Which computer is used for CAD calculation?
Workstation is a computer used for engineering applications such as Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), desktop publishing, software development, and other types of applications, which require a moderate amount of computing power and relatively high quality graphics capabilities.
