Can I just hand my package to a UPS driver?
Keep in mind, you can always hand off a pre-labeled package to your UPS driver when they're delivering to your home or place of business.

I give packages to a mail person all the time. Never had a problem with. You do need to know that scans can take 24 hours or more to show up in the system. USPS.com is the best place to check tracking but that can even take some time to update.

The truck has a per mile expense rating (for gas and maintenance) and the driver is paid hourly so they have to pay them for the extra time to come pick it up.
What does UPS ask for when picking up a package?

Adding Pertinent Information
Once you have an account through UPS My Choice, you will have the ability to add instructions for the driver when you have a package on the way. You can simply open up your account, view the relevant delivery, and add any notes that you wish to pass along.
In the U.S. and Canada, for residential deliveries that require a signature, you can leave instructions for the driver if no one will be home. For example, you can ask that the shipment be delivered to a neighbor who will be home.
If the shipment requires a direct or adult signature, then someone must be available to sign in person. If someone is not home to sign for a direct or adult signature, the courier will leave a door tag or reattempt delivery.
